The story of us…
Armand’s Version
—
It all started when I laid my eyes on Kelsey for the first time - I knew that I would be marrying her. I had just started with my new job on a 2 week testing period. After the 2 week period, a month went by and I got called back for a 6 month probation period. I started this job to build a career for myself, not knowing that it would lead me to meet my DREAM WIFE.
We started talking and we had smoke breaks together. Then one fateful afternoon, she invited me to her house for dinner and I mean how could I not have accepted that. Went there and this was as friends not looking for anything serious or even just a relationship. She sat outside with me while I had a smoke and I remember it was raining a lot, then we started talking about deep things. She then said that “I don't want to date a colleague” not going to lie. I was bummed but once again I was not looking for anything.
We started messaging each other and sending 4 - 10 min voice notes. By this time I was falling in love with her FAST and I had to stop myself but I didn't want to honestly. She started inviting me to the nursery at lunch times and I mean it's just spending time with her, I would sit and watch paint dry with her.
So as we kept chatting and it’s then when I realised and confirmed to me that I’ll be spending the rest of my life with Kelsey. I remember, she organized a braai with her best friend and now wife to “approve” of me. At the end of that night they actually invited me to their wedding as Kelsey’s plus one.
After a couple of weeks from the braai, she invited me to her house to meet her sister. I insisted that I will be cooking a Mushroom Pasta dish for us, which turned out to be HORRIBLE (Due to the Nerves). When I left to go home, I almost started crying due to the fact that she will never talk to me or anything again, got home and told her that I am home safe, she then replied with a long voice note and we kept talking till morning hours, then I confessed my feelings to her, which made me extremely nervous. She replied with a message saying we will talk on monday smoke break.
Monday came and we chatted about the confession, she then pulled out a list saying that I have to be Christian, which I am. I have to wait one month before I ask her, to which I responded that I won't ask you before I ask your Dad to have you as my Girlfriend. Which was asked 2 weeks later and not one month after all. So we went to her Dad straight after work for me to ask him in private (I was so nervous). Luckily he said Yes. As soon as we got to her place I asked her.
After 2 months, I asked her dad out for lunch to ask his blessing to marry his little girl, without hesitation he blessed our future marriage together. A week after that on a sunday she had a surprise for me and took me to our first Wedding Venue viewing. Fast forward to 6 months later on the 20 of September, I asked her to be my Wife. 2 weeks went by and we went to view Greenhouse Cafe at Rosemary Hills and we fell in love.
To sum our story up, We are MEANT for each other and did not wait to “Make sure”.
I LOVE YOU MY SOON TO BE WIFE!

No one will ever truly understand the pace, depth, or extent of how our old lives unraveled and knitted themselves into one new life together.
He became my stars the very first time I took him to a nursery, the sparkle in his eyes as he looked at me while I tried to explain that there are over 30 000 species of orchids, pointing excitedly to the spider-like ones (Brassidium Gilded Urchin). The way he listened, attentively, patiently, to every scientific phrase and elaborate explanation was quietly flattering.
Armand is my stars because the light in his eyes when he looks at me is like a telescope lens, designed for galaxies yet fixed firmly on me. I knew he was my forever person the day those stars in his eyes became a constant. No matter how stubborn my rebuttals, his gaze never changed.
He is my story. Not a page, not a chapter, not even my happily ever after. He is my story.
And the rest is history
